Två personer samtalar om energieffektivisering

BTT saved 19% compared to the previous year

Challenges & Goals

Wanted to monitor their energy consumption at the process level

BTT Plåt, based in Kisa, manufactures and processes high-quality components in thin and medium-sized sheet metal. It's a company constantly seeking new ways to optimize its operations to develop both its personnel and the business. In a specific area, they wanted to improve further, facing challenges related to their energy consumption. The issue was their inability to track their energy consumption at the process level and visualize it. Unlike a water leak where you can see when the problem arises, energy wastage is not as readily apparent.

Actions

Gained control over their power peaks

By using DAZOQ EI, BTT gained insight into their power peaks, where they used the most electricity, and when they used it. With this knowledge, BTT could prioritize and take action to reduce energy waste in the factory's processes. They developed new work methods to avoid power peaks in the morning and after lunch, thus reducing their monthly electricity costs. By calculating production costs, they also realized it was more cost-effective to operate with higher staffing during the day rather than running night shifts. They also discovered that two machines, doing the same thing, consumed different amounts of energy. "One of them consumes nearly twice as much. Now we can choose to use the machine that consumes less when we don't need to run both, a realization that has saved us a tremendous amount." - Rickard Gadmar.

Results & Insights

Continuous measurement leads to improved profitability

DAZOQ EI is used continuously to work on energy consumption, and it was observed that after a 2-year period, the savings amounted to 19% compared to the previous year.
